Many vintage watches have been personalised by engraved owner's initials. For what ever reason this was applied it does devalue watches. There used to be 2 ways of solving this, either to flood it with solder or stone down the case back. The problem being soldering can always be seen and removing material usually makes the case backs too thin. We can now offer a new way!

The first process is to establish the grade of 18k used and order a one metre length of wire. The laser machine then fires through the wire and fuses the material together. You can see the start of this process on the first initial.

A side view showing the applied gold now completely part of the case back, now sitting importantly proud of the surface.

This is gently rubbed back down with any new gaps or hollows re-applied.

Now you can see half of the engraved initials completely disappeared!

The final process before polishing. Although this method does remove material, it is only minimal against the erased stoned down version. The whole point of this process is because we don't want anybody to realise initials were there, thus making the watch worth more, easer to sell and keeping the case back solid!
