The Rolex Cosomograph are now worth quite a lot of money; however there is a fault that will happen to every example including the Daytona models.

The tube which is part of the main plate is subject to wear. It becomes oval in the centre and will start to rock the clutch wheel thus chewing away the outer part of the tube. Finally it breaks through and makes changing the time very gritty if not impossible. Unfortunately Rolex have run out of replacement main plates. SHWR have devised a method to save these watches.
First of all we file off the remaining tube and mill out a cross section in the main plate. The reason for this is because we will create a snug press fit into the main plate which does not require steady pins.
The out line of the milled section is digitally measured. We produce NC codes, email them, and our wire erosion machines complete the part.

The hole for the winding stem pivot is drilled, the part is already hardened and tempered.

An eccentric collet is made, the part is centred and pipe is turned.
From the view under the dial you can see the blocks edge. Once intermediate setting wheel is fitted it cannot be seen.
From the other side the blocks screw is now in place ready for reduction. Once the bridge is on, this can also not be seen.
A before and after image of the stem pivot. This is quite a lengthy process however now this is in place this will never wear again, we may only have to replace the winding stems, a lot easer!
Another view of the completed watch.
